For those who’re wondering where She-Hulk could go next after the season 1 finale, so is Jen Walters. However the superhuman attorney already has just a few ideas in mind, which she teased within the show’s very meta last episode. âI do have some thoughts concerning the direction of season 2,â Jen (Tatiana Maslany) tells K.E.V.I.N., the AI bot who programs all of the storylines within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (and a silly stand-in for Marvel Studios’ actual, human president, Kevin Feige). But before Jen can indulge us in her plans, K.E.V.I.N. cuts her off and sends her back into her show to tie up loose ends.
The She-Hulk series is not perfect, however it presents something different within the ever-growing MCU. For starters, it’s more legal comedy than superhero motion show; it regularly breaks the fourth wall with Jen’s witty asides; and most notably, it touches on women’s sexuality, not shying away from Jen having, joking about, and desiring sexâa rarity for Marvel’s onscreen superheroes. And while Jen deals with some bad guys, she’s just as often facing the form of misogyny women experience in on a regular basis life, from cat-calling and mansplaining within the office to online bullying. Any woman can be infuriated over these items but would probably suppress the anger to survive, or to avoid being called âemotionalâ and never taken seriously. As she navigates these items as She-Hulk, someone who can transform into a giant green smashing machine on the onset of rage, Jen shines light on a tough truthâthat ladies are indignant on a regular basis; we’re just forced to learn to live with it.
Whether or not She-Hulk will return for a second season, Maslany seems all in favour of continuing playing the title character. When asked about the opportunity of her leading the Avengers, the actress told us, âIt will be thrilling.â
Has She-Hulk been renewed for season 2?
Not officially, but there have been loads of joking references to it within the season 1 finale, which aired Oct. 13.
In a recent interview with Extra, Maslany addressed whether she knew about plans for a renewal: âI mean, I do not think so, yet. K.E.V.I.N. within the scene appears to be very dismissive of this concept, so, if we’re basing this off of the true Kevin [Feige], it doesn’t seem likely. But he was also, I believe, just attempting to do away with Jen, because she was asking too many questions.â
She later added, âIf I could possibly be coy, and have some little secret, I might try this. But, I actually don’t. I do not know anything.â
What would season 2 be about?
It’s likely the legal comedy will proceed to revolve around our heroine âlearning to be each Jen and She-Hulk,â as she explains to K.E.V.I.N. within the finale. As Jen continues to navigate her identities as superhero, attorney, and Millennial Woman Figuring It All Out, other storylines will even come into play.
For instance, there’s her cousin Bruce, who revealed within the finale that he’s a father. He reunited along with his family after a stint on the planet of Sakaar with a son, named Skaar. That is so far as the reveal goes, but a possible second season could unveil the backstory behind Bruce’s mini me.
There’s also the finale end credits scene to contemplate. Emil Blonsky is back in jail for breaking parole, but Wong appears to interrupt him out again and presumably smuggle him into Kamar-Taj. Will Jen be on the hunt for them again next season?
Most significantly, we’re hoping season 2 shows us more of Jen’s relationship with Matt Murdock/Daredevil, the MCU’s hottest latest couple.
Who can be within the forged?
Maslany’s starring role as Jennifer Walters/She-Hulk is after all integral to the series, however the actress has not yet confirmed her return.
If we do get more She-Hulk, we could see more of Mark Ruffalo as Bruce/The Hulk, Benedict Wong as Wong, Jameela Jamil as Titania, Tim Roth as Emil Blonsky/Abomination, and after all Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil. In non-superhuman characters, we would likely see more of Ginger Gonzaga as Jen’s BFF Nikki, RenĂ©e Elise Goldberry as Mallory Book, and Josh Segarra as Pug. Up to now, it’s unclear if John Bass will return as Hulk-obsessed incel and Intellencia creator Todd.
