Samsung just teased some big news about its upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event, which takes place on February 1. While this little teaser confirms a number of the Samsung Galaxy S23 rumors that weâve been hearing for the past couple of months, there may be also one other juicy little tidbit that we werenât expecting.
In a blog post teasing what we must always expect at Samsung Unpacked, TM Roh, president and head of Samsungâs MX (Mobile eXperience) business, said âthe upcoming Galaxy is all about camera, performance, and sustainability. Thatâs why our pro-grade camera system is getting smarter. Our performance is getting more powerful. And our connectivity is getting more seamless.â

Going by this statement and rumors that weâve heard, we thoroughly could also be getting a 200MP camera, in addition to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. The seamless connectivity might also hint at some type of satellite connectivity, much like the iPhone 14, possibly powered by the recently announced Snapdragon Satellite.
With Snapdragon Satellite, not only are you able to hook up with the Iridium satellite constellation for emergency use, however it would also work for normal SMS texting and other select messaging applications. This in itself would give it a leg up on Appleâs iPhone 14 satellite connectivity, which is simply available for emergencies.

One other interesting thing to notice is that Roh made a comment that Samsung will likely be introducing two devices that âset the premium standard for innovation.â Samsung has been releasing three variants of its flagship devices for some time now: the usual model, the Plus, and the Ultra variants. With this comment about only two devices, it appears that evidently Samsung could also be changing it up this 12 months.
Rumors have floated around suggesting that Samsung was going to do away with the Galaxy S24 Plus next 12 months, but perhaps this implies that we wonât be seeing an S23 Plus as a substitute, and can only be getting an S23 and S23 Ultra. Or possibly the usual model goes away since Samsung is simply talking about âpremiumâ devices, so possibly itâs going to be just the S23 Plus and S23 Ultra? Or Samsung might be keeping all three S23 models and the âtwo devicesâ in query are the S23 Ultra and the rumored Galaxy Book 3 Ultra. At this point, itâs all on the table.
Itâs definitely hard to verify anything until the Samsung Unpacked event happens on February 1, but this might give us an idea of the long run of the Galaxy lineup. Regardless, now we have just a couple of more weeks until we discover out obviously.
