Selena Gomez began the day by calling on her fans to stop harassing Hailey Bieber amid the weeks-long TikTok discourse about Hailey’s treatment of Selena and their history. Hailey broke her own silence this afternoon, commenting for the primary time on how the web’s been treating her.
She explained she and Selena had been privately talking for weeks about the best way to handle the drama, admitting that everybody could stand to be kinder about what they post online, including herself. She followed Selena back on Instagram too, after Selena made the primary move and followed Hailey this morning.
In her statement, Hailey shared:
I would like to thank Selena for speaking out, as her and I actually have been discussing the previous couple of weeks the best way to move past this ongoing narrative between her and I.
The previous few weeks have been very hard for everybody involved and hundreds of thousands of persons are seeing a lot hate around this, which is amazingly harmful. While social media is an incredible option to connect and construct community, moments like this only create extreme division as a substitute of bringing people together.
Things can all the time be taken out of context or construed in another way than they were intended. All of us must be more thoughtful about what we post and what we are saying, including myself.
Ultimately, I think love will all the time be larger than hate and negativity, and there’s all the time a chance to fulfill one another with more empathy and compassion.
She and Selena are each now following one another on Instagram in an additional show of peace:
Gomez’s Instagram Story this morning hit on the same points to Hailey’s. The actress shared: “Hailey Bieber reached out to me and let me know that she has been receiving death threats and such hateful negativity. This is not what I stand for. Nobody should must experience hate or bullying. I’ve all the time advocated for kindness and really need this all to stop. ♥️”
