Aubrey Plaza wore one of the vital extreme cutout dresses on the SAG Awards, arriving in a Michael Kors Collection dress with a front leg slit too. She wore her brown bob-length hair in curls and kept her makeup gold-hued to match the sparkly copper gown.

Plaza recently spoke to The Latest Yorker about her role in The White Lotus as Harper and the way much it reflects who she really is. “I’d say this character might be the closest to me—actual me, not April Ludgate, which everyone thinks is me—than anything I’ve done,” she said. “It just feels very, very personal and really near home for me in a way that I’m, like, ‘I can’t even watch that.’”
She admitted she didn’t watch the series but people were texting her about it. “I mean, I wasn’t, like, scouring [the internet to see what people said about the series],” she said. “But my phone has never been more lively. People were texting me on a regular basis, and so I used to be aware of it… But, generally, I attempt to steer clear of the Web, since it normally just makes me feel bad.”
The character appealed to her because “personality-wise, there was something in regards to the character that resonated,” she said. “It just jogged my memory quite a lot of the smart women in my life, and dealing women, who’ve a grounded a part of themselves because they didn’t come from wealth and privilege, but then are thrust into that world later in life. So you’ve gotten a unique approach and a unique attitude about things. And I’ve been with my husband for twelve years, and so I understood the, like, ebbs and flows of monogamous relationships and the way you might be confronted with times in your relationship where it’s rough and you’ve gotten to sort of fall in love again. And, also, I don’t have children yet, and I actually have quite a lot of people in my life that do.”
“Overall, I feel that Harper is barely misunderstood,” she continued. “I feel that people who find themselves really smart and analytical and have a critical-thinking mind sometimes get written off as just, like, a bitch or something. You turn into this sort of intimidating force. But that, inside, you’re just very vulnerable and sensitive, similar to everybody else, but, because your exterior is so, at times, cold and to the purpose, it’s such as you get things projected onto you which might be just not true… Mike [White] knew me rather well, certain things that folks don’t find out about me, and he captured them.”
