Getting an EGOT — an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony award — is just not something that’s within the reach of each performer. The people more than likely to do it are musicians, since regular actors rarely win Grammys, even the award-winning ones. One one who may be very near the total EGOT is Adele. The musical artist has an Emmy, an Oscar, and 15 Grammys. But she claims she is going to never win a Tony.
The musical artist attended a fan event to have a good time the discharge of her “I Drink Wine” music video, and Broadway World reports she was asked if she’d ever appear on stage to try to win that final award.
“I can’t lie guys, I’m not a large Broadway fan,” she confessed. “I do know, I do know. I’m talking about musicals though because I’ve been seeing a few plays but I don’t think I’ve seen enough.”
Nevertheless, there’s one show she’d consider doing, if she got the appropriate role: she desires to play Rose, the pushy stage mom with lots of big numbers, within the musical Gypsy.
“I saw [Gypsy] in London and I did love the role of the mum in it. She has a song when she was like, ‘I desired to do all of this’ and she or he’s jealous of her own daughter and she or he’s really caught up about it. At one bit, she was only a bitch in it which I could nail,” said Adele, referring to the tip of show stunner “Rose’s Turn.”
“I don’t think I’ve seen enough [Broadway] as a grown as much as know if I might wish to do it. I used to be wondering, do I just move the show from Vegas to Broadway and win the Tony? I actually prefer the sound of an EGO than an EGOT. EGO is fun. But never say never. If I move to Recent York, I get bored, I’ll be on that stage in a hot second,” she continued.
“I actually know Bette Midler which is an enormous flex, right? Because she’s one in all my idols. She was like, ‘You’d never have the opportunity to maintain up with the schedule on Broadway.’ Because I’m so lazy. I’m so notoriously lazy…I might not have the opportunity to do matinees and all that. I don’t have the stamina for that.”
Adele is managing to open her Las Vegas residency this yr, which is a fairly demanding schedule, too. Never say never.
